Staff Council Elections

The Staff Council general elections will be held in April, and at this time we invite all staff to consider running for Staff Council.

About Staff Council
Founded in 1983, Staff Council was created to represent the staff in university planning and decision-making.  Over the past 25 years, Staff Council has become increasingly more active and has made significant contributions in governance at DePaul. Staff Council members serve on university-wide committees, such as Campus Master Planning, Joint Council, North Central Accreditation, Strategic Planning, Strategic Resource Allocation Committee, Policy Review Group, Tuition Pricing, and University Benefits and Compensation. Additionally the Council has several standing committees including Budget Advisory, Communications, Diversity, Effectiveness, Membership and Events, and Staff Resources which work collaboratively with university administrators in service to and governance of DePaul. Staff Council also hosts the Voice of Staff section at monthly meetings as well as a web site that solicits staff input regularly and provides a forum for staff to raise significant issues.

Term Commitments and Eligibility
Currently, there are 13 seats available. Council members are elected to serve a two-year term.  Terms begin at the May 2008 Staff Council meeting.  Currently, the Council meets every third Wednesday of the month from 1:30 to 4:30 pm, and these meetings alternate between the Lincoln Park and Loop campuses. You are eligible if you are a full- or part-time staff member below the level of vice-president.  Directors and assistant vice-presidents are eligible to run for election. 

How to Run
1. Complete the Candidacy Form. There is both a PDF version and a Microsoft Word version available.

2. Send in your completed form with signatures. You may either fax the form to 5-4781 or send via interoffice mail to Victoria Simek, Staff Council Vice President, at 990 W Fullerton, IST Center, LPC.

3. Email your candidate statement (only the statement) to Victoria Simek at vsimek@depaul.edu to be included on the election web site.

The deadline for submission is March 28,2008.
