Election Personal Statement (2008):
Being part of the DePaul community has been an excellent experience for me and I would like to become involved in the affairs pertaining to staff members of the university. I have been with DePaul’s Advancement team serving as a Receptionist for over 6 months in the Office of Development. I greatly enjoy working with others to address issues and/or concerns that affect constituents directly. I was elected student senator this past year at the university I currently attend; there, I am working with university officers to establish scholarship funds that will benefit minority students who have financial need. I’m currently a candidate (community representative) for Local School Council at the high school that I graduated from here in Chicago. I plan on becoming an educator and would like to know more about school operations and would like to see more community participation in the schools, therefore, I’m running for LSC. I stay active in my local community by volunteering at community organizations, schools, offices of elected officials, etc. One of the goals that I will work towards if elected to Staff Council is to have a tuition reimbursement program here at DePaul, so if any employee would like to advance their education by attending another higher education institution they could do so and be reimbursed for tuition.
