Update on Daycare

August 2007 issue

Is DePaul still exploring the possibility of on-campus daycare? This issue has come up in the past and seemed to be something a lot of staff expressed interest in on the last benefits survey, but there has been no update on the subject.

Response: Day care assistance is being explored along with elder care and more general work life needs.

The 2006 Benefits Satisfaction Survey results included feedback on daycare assistance. Faculty and staff respondents indicated that daycare assistance was one of the top three benefits to be considered for the future. The University Benefits and Compensation Committee (UBCC) and Human Resources have undertaken the project to assess more broadly work/life and dependent care needs.

The outcomes of the assessment will inform university work/life strategies that support individuals as they balance personal and professional responsibilities. The study will also examine more closely the child care and elder care needs of our employees. Our survey is planned for mid-September with focus groups held in October. Results are expected to be communicated Winter Quarter.

Staff interested in more information should contact their UBCC representatives appointed by staff council.
