New Staff Hires Information:

January 2009 issue

I think it would be great for HR/The university to share the number of new staff hires that are coming in each month. The economy is so terrible it makes people worry about job security. Many companies are facing hiring freezes, yet DePaul continues to bring in excellent talent to fill the gaps our staff have been feeling for several years (since the dreaded layoff). We always seem to focus on negative things (Voice of staff asks staff to submit an "issue"). Why don't we start sharing the positive things that are happening at the university?

Response: This is a good idea. Over the course of the year, the university may hire anywhere from 200-275 staff depending on both attrition and growth. Human Resources will look into how best to communicate such data on an ongoing basis. In the meantime, anyone within the university community can see the numbers of filled positions in the Financial Affairs quarterly reports under the heading of ‘Employee Headcount and Diversity.’
