Sick Time Donations:

January 2009 issue

I sometimes hear of DePaul employees who become seriously ill, exhaust their benefits, and are in need of financial support. At the Illinois College of Optometry, they have a program that allows employees to donate a day of their own sick or vacation time to a co-worker in need. As a member of the DePaul family, I would like to see this option available as a means to support my co-workers. I appreciate your consideration of this suggestion.

Response: This certainly sounds like a very laudable initiative and is something you may want Staff Council to propose through the University Benefits and Compensation Committee (UBCC) representatives.  The initiative would be added to the list of priorities identified to the UBCC by the university community and researched by human resources for future considerations.
