CTA:

July 2005 issue

What is being done regarding the severe service cuts planned by the CTA? Will enrollment drop because students are unable to get to classes due to transportation obstacles? Is DePaul lobbying for student CTA needs? If not, will staff layoffs be the result AGAIN?

According to Janis, the construction and the processes around the renovations that might affect the DePaul community continue to evolve. DePaul continues to voice its concerns, along with the neighbors, in relation to the schedule cutbacks on the Brown Line that will affect service. In fact, a good deal of pressure has been exerted on the CTA by DePaul, the neighbors and the local aldermen whose wards count on the Brown Line. We hope that the CTA will consider the extent of the cutbacks, and has also proposed bus routes to help offset any ridership issues during that time. The whole project has changed a good deal over the past couple of years, and DePaul is continuing to monitor it as best as possible.
