July 2005 issue My area is in the process of filling a vacant staff position. Working with HR has been terrible. We have to wait weeks between each batch of resumes and those we receive do not even match our job description. I have to waste time filtering thru resumes that are missing vital requirements such as a bachelors degree. When this was brought up to HR they said they were too understaffed to provide this service. I then noticed that the listing on Monster and the HR website had the incorrect job title. It has taken over a week to fix this issue. The HR required job title is too vague. Why do we have the HR title and then working titles? Why can’t we have more descript and specific HR titles? What can be done to improve the HR service provided in regards to recruiting and hiring? If HR is the first department a potential staff member comes in contact with, DePaul is not making a very good first impression. Response HR submitted a request for proposal to several third party vendors for a new recruitment system for staff positions. The new recruitment system will provide numerous functionality including pre-screening filters, automatic posting to job boards and consistent resume/cover letter formatting. A final part of the project involves the review of current policies and procedures including the use of HR titles
