Upgrades to Loop Gym Facilities

Request for downtown campus 1) would it be possible to add 2 more fans in the workout room? 2) could shower dividers be added for some privacy. 3) Could spray disinfectant be provided for the showers? Spray disinfectant is provided for the workout room and it would be nice if that same could be provided for the shower. 4) Can a water fountain be added inside the workout room? Thank you.

Response: We would be happy to look into installing some additional stand alone fans in the space. We can achieve this at minimal expense. In terms of adding shower dividers in the locker room and a water fountain in the work out room, we are unable to accommodate these requests at this time due to budget constraints. Facility Operations and Campus Recreation loosely oversee and maintain these facilities even though the work out space is not and never was an official part of our charge. That said, we are happy to do what we can- but we cannot spend any more money on the facility then we can occasionally afford through year end surplus dollars against other projects of competing priority. Insofar as the spray disinfectant for the shower area goes, we clean those areas as part of routine maintenance activity so there is no real need to provide additional stand alone dispensers of this product.

Our greatest hope is to one day have a brand new big and beautiful campus rec center at Loop. One that we effectively set up and control directly and one that has its own operating budget to properly support it.
