Managing Personal Days:

January 2007 issue

My concern is the need for staff members at DePaul University to be eligible for Business/Personal days. How is it that we often end up using vacation days in order to have a full day to manage our affairs. As you might know, compensatory time or 'comp' time is subjective in that one must keep tract of perhaps hourly time and then schedule re-payment of the time at the discretion of the manager. Please pass it along.

Response: The university has addressed this issue. As of 1/1/07, full-time staff employees are eligible for 2 floating holidays each year that can be taken at any time subject to management approval. Please see the updated holiday policy on the University Policies and Procedures web-site.
