Personal Time: |

August 2005 issue What is the policy on personal time for salaried staff? Are salaried staff allowed paid personal time (1-2 days off) if a child or spouse is sick and requires care? Does it count as sick time? Vacation time? Do these hours need to be made up? Response The decision on how to handle sick time for an exempt staff (salaried employees) is at the sole discretion of the manager/director. If the manager/director feels sick time should be charged; it should be charged as vacation time. Non-exempt staff (hourly employees) can use two sick days a year as personal days, which are counted as sick days and do not need to made up.
