Staff Council received requests to inquire about the current manual system for paying employee tuition waivers and its impact on employees. [“Essentially, I have two complaints, and they both get back to the same things: HR does not have an automated system for paying employee/employee based tuition.

Response

Staff Council representatives, Shay Ann Heiser Singh and Margaret Strzynski met with University Human Resources Benefits department members Gary Miller, Tamika Lampkin and Taletha Mathis. Staff Council learned the employee tuition waiver is automatic with exceptions for summer and spouse/dependents over the age of 23. Staff who encounter glitches with the processing of waivers are strongly encouraged to contact Taletha Mathis at 2-6573 or the Benefits Help Line at 2-8232. HR Benefits also welcome comments and suggestions for improvement.
